Lowrey’s Big Beef Tender Cut Beef Jerky

There are a lot of pressed and form jerky products around. I'm not generally a big flan of them. These were only $1 (and not at the dollar store) so I thought I would try them out.

In the Package

The jerky is in long, uniform, pressed flat sticks. It has a crisscross pattern presumably from the drying racks.

The Jerky

If you've had the flat Slim Jim sticks, then you will have a good idea of what to expect with this product. The primary flavor is salt and I can taste other flavors but nothing I can make out specifically.

If you squeeze the jerky, it's definitely oily. You'll need to wipe your hands after you eat a couple of pieces of this.

For the money you get a good bit of jerky in the package. The net weight is 2oz and the serving size is 1 whole package. The product is obviously not as dense as solid meat jerkys so there are more pieces. If you ate a whole package of this you would definitely be full.

When I smell the jerky, there's a strong soy smell. As with the taste, I can detect other smells but nothing point out specifically.

Beef, Water, Salt, Hydrolyzed Corn, Soy Protein, Natural Smoke Flavor

The flavor is pretty much consistent with other pressed jerky products. I can mostly taste the salt. There are other flavors present but not really anything you can pin down.
